THE LEO NEW MOON HELPS YOU
BECOME WHO YOU WERE BORN TO BE

THE LEO NEW MOON tonight is your opportunity to let your inner Sun shine forth so that you become the being you were born to be.

In the Religion of Antinous we call this the SACERDOTE MOON because it represents the priestly spiritual development of Antinous from boyhood to mystery initiation and finally to godhood.

Each lunar phase represents a Divine Spirit or Archetype. The Spirit of the Sacerdote is Spirituality itself. It is holiness and sacredness personified.

The Leo New Moon is the fierce moon of kindling the flame of courageous new faith.

This is the night to kick-start your self-esteem, to jump-start the dead battery that is your career or your love life or your artistic ambitions.

We all know the feeling -- chronic low self-esteem, chronic insecurity, a habitual feeling of powerlessness, of being at the mercy of others.

Take heart!

We are approaching one of the most sacred periods in our Liturgical Calendar. ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD is saddling up and preparing to engage in the SACRED LION HUNT.

The LEO NEW MOON which ushers in the season of the SACRED LION HUNT. Antinous fights the lion and grapples with the lion -- he and the lion become ONE and the SAME -- they join forces to create divinity -- HOMOTHEOSIS.

The awe-inspiring "Strength" card (shown here) from Stevee Postman's COSMIC TRIBE TAROT beautifully symbolizes what we are talking about.

During the LEO NEW MOON, we have the opportunity to shine. There's an ebullient child-like energy that draws forth the playful and creative self that resides within. Yet, when doing so care is usually taken since Leo wants to be nothing if not dignified.

The Sun God sign Leo aligns us with a feeling of wanting to be recognized and embraced for the special being we are. If other people's interactions with and attitudes towards us do not meet with these expectations, our pride is hurt and we roar with indignant rage.

Which is not a bad thing. Most gay men have problems expressing anger. We have been taught to be "nice" boys. We have been brainwashed to believe that "nice" means never daring to speak up for ourselves, never taking care of "Number 1". The result is that our pent-up rage sometimes makes us turn into a wild and raging beast -- the lion!

ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD has mastered the art of grappling with those leonine energies. He shows us that it is possible to become one with our "inner lion" -- without being devoured by it.

He shows us how to harness the enormously powerful Leonine energies inside us in order to boost our self-esteem, to end our powerlessness, and to energize us into standing up for ourselves with dignity and pride.

Antinous allows us to see how important it is to be generous in spirit and to radiate our inner light to those around us. He shows us how if we do not let our vital energy flow,  we may experience stress, tension and RAGE in our hearts, bodies, and mind. The Leo New Moon reminds us that we should proudly express our essential self -- a being that has great gifts to offer those with whom it orbits.

The SACRED LION HUNT demonstrated to Hadrian and the world -- and most importantly to Antinous himself -- that Antinous was no longer a common-born kid from the provinces. It showed that He was on the road towards Divinity.

The New Moon in Leo is also special to the Religion of Antinous because the Leo New Moon is creative and playful. The Leo New Moon is a bit of a show-off and likes to be in the spotlight, with all heads turned his way -- as with the Beauteous Boy himself.

The Leo New Moon is also eager to throw out old and ineffective habitual ways of thinking -- "I'm old, fat and stupid" "I'm unworthy" -- and eager to go for new solutions which will help us to get out of the rut which has become our everyday lives.

Many of you are familiar with the experience of waking up to the fact that your life is no longer working the way you have set it up. Sometimes this is due to a shift occurring inside yourself over time, and sometimes it is part of the larger shift that is currently affecting all humanity.

Change is happening at such an increased rate that it is difficult to predict what the future holds. As a result, many of the old ways of planning out a life are no longer applicable, and if you cling to them you feel strangely out of tune with reality. If you are in tune with the LEO NEW MOON energies around you, you will begin to question ideas that just a few years ago seemed sensible.

In the simplest terms, the shift you are undergoing right now has to do with recognizing yourself as being more than human -- the process we call HOMOTHEOSIS -- remembering that your earthly aspects are a very small part of who you are.

In truth, you are a multidimensional being. Gay-Man-Godliness-Becoming-the-Same.

When you begin to realize this, the life you planned for a limited conception of yourself no longer fits. You must meet the needs and qualifications not only of your body (the "monkey" as Flamen Antonyus calls it) but also of your Spiritual Heart.

This realization dawns slowly for some and with the suddenness of a bolt of lightning for others, and each of you must find the way that works for you to integrate this new and larger sense of self into your life plan.

Tonight during this Leo New Moon, take time to reflect on becoming who you were born to be. Rather than focusing on a specific task, go to the center of your heart and meditate on the core strength of your soul.

Perhaps you are here to bring beauty, whether through art, justice, or fashion. Perhaps you are here to help heal the  offering of the world, whether through your writing, activism, or as a physician.

Or maybe you are here to bring insight and truth where there is confusion and ignorance....

By the way, Leo rules the heart, spine, and hair. Pay extra attention to these parts of your body around the time of this Leo New Moon.

Astro Forecast August 1st — 11th, 2013

Antinous Astrology Forecast

AUGUST 1st to 11th, 2013

THURSDAY/FRIDAY August 1st/2nd 2013

Thursday and Friday are a write-off for getting any work done when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD goes VOID OF COURSE for most of both days — causing delays, rescheduling, lost messages and missed opportunities. Remember we always say you should think of ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD as your favorite rock or pop star giving a concert. The VOC MOON is the break between sets. The singer goes back stage for a costume change and psychs themselves up for the next set. Meanwhile, the audience is waiting impatiently out front while video projections and doo-wah girls fill the interlude. That's what a VOID OF COURSE MOON feels like. Nothing much will happen — certainly nothing particularly bad — but also nothing particularly good. No point waiting for messages and calls to be returned ... they will be waiting when you arrive for work on Monday.

SATURDAY August 3rd 2013

On Saturday the weekend gets off to a smooth and graceful start when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD is in splendid aspects with dreamy Neptune, productive Saturn and festive Jupiter. It looks like a perfect day for inviting a few friends over.

SUNDAY August 4th 2013

On Sunday pleasant impromptu guests are likely to drop by, or perhaps you will meet someone online you had never expected to meet — when the Sun forms a trine with anything-can-happen Uranus and ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD is in positive aspects with love planet Venus and steamy Mars.

MONDAY August 5th 2013

On Monday the work week gets off to a good start when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD aligns in conjunction with Mercury in ebullient Leo, allowing you to express your inner most feelings with aplomb.

TUESDAY August 6th 2013

On Tuesday ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD aligns with his heavenly father Ra-Herakhte for the LEO NEW MOON, which we call the SACERDOTE MOON which spiritually kickstarts your life. Take time to reflect on becoming who you were born to be. Rather than focusing on a specific task, go to the center of your heart and meditate on the core strength of your soul. Perhaps you are here to bring beauty, whether through art, justice, or fashion. Perhaps you are here to help heal the offering of the world, whether through your writing, activism, or as a physician. Or maybe you are here to bring insight and truth where there is confusion and ignorance ... By the way, Leo rules the heart, spine, and hair. Pay extra attention to these parts of your body around the time of this Leo New Moon.

WEDNESDAY August 7th 2013

On Wednesday the reverberations of the powerful LEO NEW MOON continue to kick your life into high gear when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD forms highly fortuitous aspects to lucky Jupiter and regenerative Pluto. This is an energy-filled day for taking decisive steps to make your dreams come true.

THURSDAY August 8th 2013

On Thursday there is good news and some less good news when Jupiter and Mars are in 180-degree opposition to Pluto and Mercury enters me-firsty Leo. The good news is that you have the feeling you can do anything and it will come out right. The less good news is that you may be over-exaggerating your abilities. But then ... nothing ventured, nothing gained.

FRIDAY August 9th 2013

On Friday the work week ends on an energetic note when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD forms nice sextiles with Jupiter and Mars, which have been in near-conjunction with each other for more than a week. Financial and business matters get taken care of and you clear off your desk for the weekend in nothing flat ... and leave work feeling ready to sow a wild oat (or two) ....

SATURDAY August 10th 2013

On Saturday the perfect weekend for shopping takes shape when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD aligns with money-conscious Mercury and forms a sextile with style-conscious Venus. This is the perfect cosmic lineup for going into town and meeting friends at the mall.

SUNDAY August 11th 2013

On Sunday Mercury squares off against stubborn Saturn while ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD is in tense aspects to Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus. This creates a day when you long for harmony on the one hand, but you tend to speak your mind without the slightest hesitation on the other hand. Take our advice and try to avoid topics you know will only lead to arguments.

SNEAK PREVIEW OF NEXT WEEK:

Another exciting week lies ahead between August 12th and 18th when Venus enters lovely laid-back Libra and ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD is at right angles with the Sun for the SCORPIO FIRST QUARTER MOON, the lunar phase we associate with PROMETHEUS the DIVINE THIEF — this is the night to get in touch with your Inner Thief. More details next time ....

THE MOON OF LUCIUS AELIUS CAESAR
THE TAURUS THIRD QUARTER MOON

TONIGHT is the night of the TAURUS THIRD QUARTER MOON which we call the MOON OF BROTHERS in honor of Lucius Aelius Caesar who was a veritable brother to Antinous at the imperial court of Emperor Hadrian.

Each Lunar Phase represents a Divine Spirit or Archetype. The Spirit of the "Lucius Moon" is the Spirit of Brotherhood. This is the Kindred Spirit who accompanies you all your life and who is there for you through thick and thin.

Even when all others abandon you, your brother stands by you. But he is no pushover.

He admonishes you to do better, to straighten up and fly right, even though he himself is no paragon of virtue.

This Spirit knows you a bit too well, perhaps. He is cocky and has a tendency to swagger and boast. He can be a free spirit who is a high-stepper, a bit of a dandy, a man with a chip on his shoulder, a brother who exudes "attitude".

On this night we remember Lucius Aelius Caesar (January 13, 101 - January 1, 138), who became the adopted son and intended successor of Hadrian, but who never attained the throne, dying of illness before Hadrian after a brief life of licentious love of luxury.

Aelius Caesar is a major character in Marguerite Yourcenar's epic historical novel MÉMOIRES D'HADRIEN (MEMOIRS OF HADRIAN). Lucius, as we affectionately call him, is the recipient of much bittersweet love and adoration from followers of the Religion of Antinous. For us he represents so many pretty young men whose bright futures are thwarted by tragic illness. Aelius Caesar is often called the Western Favorite, because of the possibility that he rivaled Antinous for Hadrian's love. We venerate Aelius Caesar as the fallen Prince of Flowers, the spiritual twin brother of Antinous.

The Taurus Third Quarter Moon is about comfort and luxury along with practicality.

This is the night for ANTINOUS MOON MAGIC rituals on behalf of your "brothers", whether biological, social or spiritual brothers, and regardless of gender. This is the night you celebrate a brotherly good friend (generally male) who definitely is on your side, but who has a bit of "attitude". He loves comfort and style and can be a bit superficial at times.

This can be a biological brother, but more likely a brother in spirit. He may tease you and be your rival but, when the chips are down, he will stand up for you and fight valiantly for you. Honor him, he is your brother!

THE ANTINOUS GRAND HEXAGRAM USHERS IN
A PARADIGM SHIFT IN GAY CONSCIOUSNESS

MARK your calendar for horoscope history: Monday, July 29th 2013, features an incredibly rare aspect we call the Antinous Grand Hexagram ... a celestial alignment so rare that it occurs once in centuries.

It's essentially a six-pointed star, or hexagram, comprised of seven planets that form harmonious angles (trines and sextiles) to each other.

These synergistic seven are all in "feminine" (earth or water) signs, emphasizing stability, gentleness, love and harmony. Many astrologers view this as the moment our culture will take a step toward embracing "gay" principles. It is a paradigm shift away from traditional paternalistic "straight male" values.

Picture a world that values cooperation over competition, goodness over greed, and where gays, women and children are valued and treated as equal citizens.

It's a long-overdue energetic rebalancing that our culture is crying out for, not to mention our environment.

In many ways it is the realization of the ages-old Alchemical formula for planetary/elemental perfection symbolized by this ancient alchemical diagram.

Perhaps that's why gay astrologers have nicknamed this Grand Hexagram "the saving grace."

It's rare enough to have even one trine, or "lucky triangle," so experiencing two at once  is a real anomaly. One will be an earth trine involving Antinous the Moon God, Venus and Pluto. The other is a water trine that includes Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune. This is the kind of moment that astrologers live for!

AND ... Monday is the night of the Taurus Third Quarter Moon — the MOON OF BROTHERS when we honor Lucius Aelius, who was like a brother to Antinous in the imperial court of Hadrian. Tonight is when we celebrate our gay brothers!

This aspect comes into play one week after the Full Moon of the Cosmic Moon, which is the last of 3 Super Moons in a row. The Super Moon is when the Full Moon falls on the day when the Moon is closest to the Earth.

The Moon moves into position to create a Grand Trine with Venus and Pluto which also completes a Grand Sextile around the planet Earth. The Grand Trine with Venus, Pluto and the Moon signifies the possibility of transformation (Pluto) through the power of beauty (Venus) and love (Super Moon).

The Antinous Grand Hexagram and Your Zodiac Sign

How will the Grand Sextile soften your sign's tougher tendencies? Here's how you can incorporate new energetic ease into your current way of being:

ARIES: Calm your hotheaded and impulsive behavior and pause before you react. Look before leaping.

Taurus: Shift from resisting change to thoughtfully considering a whole new outlook.

GEMINI: Transmute scattered energy into focusing on a couple key goals. Stay present. Breathe.

CANCER: Bypass your insecurity and take a chance. Feel the fear and do it anyway!

LEO: Look past the drama of the immediate situation and discover the greater plan.

VIRGO: Break out of "analysis paralysis" and perfectionism. Put yourself out there, even if you don't feel "ready."

LIBRA: Release the need for  approval. Make a decision, and be empowered by living with its consequences, good or bad.

SCORPIO: Lower your mask and let people see the man/woman behind the mystery.

SAGITTARIUS: Rather than bite off more than you can chew, practice committing fully to one dream at a time. Be where you are.

CAPRICORN: Live in the moment, rather than turning everything into a ten-year plan or worrying about the outcome.

AQUARIUS: Breathe through the awkwardness of intimacy and allow yourself to truly connect with people, one on one.

PISCES: Snap out of the illusion of victimhood. Click those ruby slippers. You had the power all along!

Antinous Astrology Forecast

JULY 24 to AUG. 4, 2013

THURSDAY/FRIDAY July 25-26th 2013

You can forget about getting any work done Thursday and Friday when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD goes VOID OF COURSE for most of both days — causing delays, rescheduling, lost messages and missed opportunities. Nothing much will happen during this VOC period — on the plus side, a VOC is perfect for meditation, dreamscaping and contact the spirit world.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY July 27th/28th 2013

On Saturday you can expect a busy day catching up on work that piled up over the past week when the Moon is in hot aspects to Jupiter, Mars, Pluto and the Sun as well as Uranus. You should get as much work done as possible because on Sunday ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD goes VOID OF COURSE for 26 hours — in a repeat of the incredible VOC hiatus this past week. Remember the rule of thumb: Nothing particularly bad will happen during a Void Moon — but nothing particularly good will happen either — in fact, nothing much will happen at all.

MONDAY July 29th 2013

On Monday we come to the long-awaited ANTINOUS GRAND HEXAGRAM — a rare paradigm-shifting alignment of six major planets which will not occur again for centuries. First of all, Monday is the night of the Taurus Third Quarter Moon — the MOON OF BROTHERS when we honor Lucius Aelius, who was like a brother to Antinous in the imperial court of Hadrian. Tonight is when we celebrate our gay brothers! But there's much more — because the Moon forms a celsestial triangle with love planet Venus and revolution-intent Pluto ... as meanwhile, lucky Jupiter forms a triangle with you-can-do-it Saturn and intuitive Neptune. These two trines form a Grand Hexagram which occurs once in hundreds of years. Astrology books don't have very much to say about these very rare geometrical configurations because in most cases because they are so rare, no "rule book" can ever be made. But gay astrologers are convinced this signifies our tipping point in the early years of the Age of Aquarius — we have transcended the past of inequality of the Gay/Feminine and our collective pain of this disrespect . Now it is the great work to embrace the Masculine and create Peace.

TUESDAY July 30th 2013

On Tuesday sensuality prevails when Venus and Pluto are in a trine while Mercury is in a sexy sextile with ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD. Venus and Pluto create deeply profound feelings which will reverberate the rest of this week.

WEDNESDAY July 31st 2013

On Wednesday get ready for surprise outbursts when Mars is at odds with Uranus, and Venus squares off against the Moon. There is also a tendency to make careless mistakes and be slightly more forgetful than usual.

THE AQUARIUS FULL MOON
THE DONUM MOON OF ANTINOUS

TONIGHT'S Aquarius Full Moon is the summertime moon of generous gifts which we associate with Antinous in his guise as Vertumnus, the shape-shifting God of summertime bounty and generous gifts.

This is the full moon of letting go, breaking out of restrictions, busting out of prisons, liberating yourself from the chains which restrain you.

It represents a boon (material or otherwise) which comes your way through generosity. It is an unexpected gift from someone else.

Or it is a gift you give to yourself. The Aquarius Full Moon is about philanthropic generosity

In ANTINOUS MOON MAGIC we call this the DONUM MOON when magical rituals are performed for fortuitous gifts.

Antinous/Vertumnus is the divine aspect of Antinous representing his gift-giving ability. He holds a symbolic gift of fresh-ripened fruit and summertime blossoms which he is eager to give to you without reservation.

It is yours. No questions asked. Take it.

Vertumnus also symbolizes his ability to morph and change bad luck into good luck. The Ancient Etruscans believed Vertumnus was a shape-shifter who could change his form at will. He brought gifts and bounty to those who had the "eyes" to perceive him in his many guises.

The Romans adopted Vertumnus and he became associated with the changing bounty of summertime, when fruit and vegetables materialized out of the ground and ripened and were ready for harvest — the bountiful gifts of nature.

According to Ovid's Metamorphoses, Vertumnus was enthralled with Pomona, the goddess of orchard fruits, and desired to be one with her. But she spurned him.

He assumed many guises — a fisherman, a soldier, a peasant, a reaper, etc. — but she turned him away every time. Finally, he assumed the form of an old woman and was so aged and unattractive that Pomona let down her guard.

Thus, Vertumnus engaged her in conversation and they became inseparable — which was what Vertumnus had wanted all along.

Ovid says that the moral of the tale of Vertumnus and Pomona is that you should never judge a gift by its outward appearances. Never reject the hand of friendship.

The Aquarius Full Moon is about philanthropic generosity. The Ancient Romans celebrated the feast day of Vertumnus — the Vertumnalia — during the cycle of the Aquarius Full Moon in early times (and on August 13th in later times) by giving each other baskets of fruit, flowers and other symbols of nature's bounty. The Aquarius Full Moon is associated with Antinous/Vertumnus in Antinous Moon Magic rituals.

Go outside tonight and look up at the full moon, with shooting stars cascading from all sides. This is the FULL MOON to wake up and break free of all mental, spiritual, political and ideological strictures. It is the gift of an opportunity.

The PERSEID METEORS (which reach their peak at this time of year) are symbolically aimed at you.

Antinous is aiming his gifts of new opportunity directly your way. All you have to do is reach out and grasp it — and it's yours.

JULY 18th to 28th, 2013

THURSDAY July 18th 2013

On Thursday a historic celestial event occurs — the ANTINOUS GRAND TRINE —a three-way trine aspect involving lucky Jupiter, intuitive Neptune and practical Saturn. This equidistant three-way aspect occurs only once in every several centuries. Mars also gets into the act by aligning in conjunction with Jupiter. This historic aspect provides you with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make Neptunian dreams come true through Saturnian planning, Jovian good fortune and Martian gumption — go for it!

FRIDAY July 19th 2013

On Friday the historic three-way trine aspect involving lucky Jupiter, intuitive Neptune and practical Saturn continues to empower you. Adding fuel to the fire is a trine between impulsive Uranus and ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD which helps you to make the changes you need to activate your plans.

SATURDAY July 20th 2013

On Saturday three weeks of computer glitches, postal delays and travel detours come to an end when Mercury ends its Retrograde period and begins moving forward again. Now you can sign on the dotted line of those contracts you have been waiting for, and make major expenditures. You will finally sell that car you have had on the market for three weeks with no firm buyers.

SUNDAY July 21st 2013

On Sunday sparks will fly when ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD aligns with Pluto in Capricorn and also gets into tense aspects to Uranus and Mercury. You will feel drawn into deep discussions of profound issues which could well lead to tears and the slamming of doors.

Well, luck is in the air on Monday when Jupiter aligns with Mars ... and the Sun enters its home base in sunny Leo in time for the AQUARIUS FULL MOON. This is the summertime moon of generous gifts which we associate with Antinous/Vertumnus, the shape-shifting God of summertime bounty and generous gifts.
