2018 IS "THE YEAR OF VENUS"

FROM an astrological viewpoint, the Year 2018 is ushering in an opportunity to enhance human relationships on both a personal and an economic level.

According to a rather obscure astrological text called the "Galendarjum Oeconomicum Practicum Perpetuum," the Year 2018 is the "Year of Venus."

The Year 2015 was the "Year of Jupiter" and 2016 it was Mars's turn to take over, then 2017 was the year of the Sun. Now it is the Year of Venus.

While political upheaval and emotional turmoil were the themes of 2017, the year 2018 promises to have a potential for harmony ... but only if we are able to rein in the negative Venus qualities of envy, over-protectiveness, jealousy and greed.

Venus is all about pleasure, especially pleasure shared with someone else.

This planet concerns itself with love, romance and harmony in our emotional attachments, marriages, friendships and other unions (like business partnerships).

Venus is content to spread happiness and tenderness, all the while teaching us how to love and appreciate others and the things that we possess.

We appear attractive ... and we attract others ... thanks to Venus's energy. Socializing with and relating to others are important to this planet.

Beauty is also strongly associated with Venus. The arts (music, dance, drama and literature, to name a few) and a sense of the aesthetic fall within the realm of Venus.

Venus beseeches us to indulge our senses and revel in the beauty of our world. This planet is inextricably linked to refinement, culture, charm and grace.

Venus also deals with the pleasure we derive from our possessions. Luxuries (jewelry, paintings, expensive cars), good food and drink, a beautiful home and a sense of refinement all please Venus's interests.

This planet asks us to appreciate the exquisite nature of things. It's a sensual ... though not necessarily sexual ... world as far as Venus is concerned.

TONIGHT's Invictus Moon phase can be characterised by being Indomitable, unbeatable, unconquerable and assertive. 

These energies can all be seen by some as domineering and by others as the ability to achieve things. Neither are right or wrong. They all can be part of your innate response to people or the way you learn to become - creating and aura of strength around yourself. 

Whether you are already a vision of strength or are working on it, I would suggest reaching for red stones and crystals. 

I would particularly suggest Fire Agate (above) – this allows particular meditative focus on strength whilst also having a function where it mellows the soul.

All this positive strength can allows you either smash away illusions or create absolute clarity about the situation you are in or striving for. 

Jade is the stone recommended for meditating during this highly enlightened state. 

Green Jade especially channels passion into constructive approaches to situations with the people around you whether family, friends, colleagues or enemies. 

It is not surprising, therefore, that Chinese people have held Green Jade as sacred for over a millennia.

THE ANTINOUS INVICTUS MOON THE ARIES FIRST QUARTER MOON

TONIGHT's Aries First Quarter Moon is the Lunar Phase we call the INVICTUS MOON, the Antinous Moon Magic spirit of Mithras.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21st, 2017

On Thursday, we come to the December Solstice. Check out the nearly 20,000 members of the brotherhood of worshipers of Antinous at the ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD FACEBOOK PAGE and you see there are people in South Wales (UK) and New South Wales (Australia). There are people in Sao Paulo and Sydney. There are people in California and Cape Town, and there are some in Portland Oregon and Portland Maine.

For some of us the days are getting shorter and Winter is approaching. For others of us the days are getting longer and Summer is on the way. For our brothers in Brazil and South Africa and Australia, the jacarandas are in bloom and the days are hot and balmy. Sydneysiders are bracing for another bush fire season.

For our brothers here in Britain and Europe, the days are short and almost completely sunless and the scent of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine fills the air from vendors on city streets.

For our brothers in the US and Canada, ice storms and the icy fear of economic disaster have put a chill on this Solstice Season.

Wherever we are, regardless of the season, Antinous the Gay God looks into our hearts.

And it is all happening at this magical moment. Twice a year there is a moment — in fact, a few days — when the sun seems to "stand still" in the heavens. From the Latin "sol stasis" we derive our name for these events: solstices.

That's the very odd thing about this blue marble upon which we live. The Solstice occurs at the same moment everywhere. But the hands on the clocks point to 23 different hours. And in some places it signals the start of summer (though the days start getting shorter), while in others the it signals the start of winter (though the days start getting longer).

But it is really the same moment and we are all living and breathing at this same moment, though we live in places where the hands of the clock point in all different directions. Each of us is alone. All of us are together in this aloneness. It is the same phenomenon. But how you see it depends on how you look at it.

The days are getting longer. The days are getting shorter. It all depends on how you look at it.

However you look at it, remember that we are all brothers, lovers and comrades. And we are all turning, turning toward our own true delight.

On Friday, we come to our annual reality check when the Sun aligns with Saturn. This year's Sun/Saturn rendezvous is in the no-nonsense sign of Capricorn. The result is that Saturn floods you with doubts and caution while the Sun showers you with over-confidence and over-optimism. You find yourself wanting desperately to achieve long-stalled goals ... but you are plagued by doubts and insecurities. You crave recognition, but you find it difficult to cope with praise.

Aren't you tired of all the computer glitches, "lost" files, travel delays and snafus of recent weeks? Take heart! Now Mercury does an about-face and starts going forward again as seen from Earth, ending three weeks of Retrograde "backwards" travel. So you can safely message friends and co-workers a prediction that certain "lost" computer files or parcels will show up by the time they go to work the next morning. Mercury going backwards creates this sort of impish mayhem with matters concerning communications, documents and money. Misplaced tickets, keys, "lost" computer files, letters and packages which vanish into postal limbo ... all are typical of Retrograde Mercury. The "lost" things turn up again as if by magic when Mercury goes Direct again. A skilled astrologer, Hadrian no doubt amazed his courtiers by accurately predicting when some "lost" document or wayward courier message would finally re-appear out of no where.

The year 2017 ends on a slightly spooky note when suspicious Scorpio Mars is in a 120-degree trine aspect to dreamy Pisces Neptune. If you don't reduce speed immediately, you are bound for disaster. ANTINOUS INVICTUS AND THE SOLSTICE

ON Thursday at 16:29 Universal Time (8:29 a.m. at the Hollywood Temple of Antinous) the sun "stands still" ("Sol Stasis") — the 21 December 2017 Solstice. 

This is a special day every year in the Religion of Antinous for it marks the return of Sol Invictus, the Unconquerable Sun.

The return of the sun is the Conquest of Unconquered Light over chaos and darkness, the emergence of Phanes-Eros-Dionysus from the cosmic egg (image at right).

On this day, we observe the moment when the unknown god Bythus-Narcissus gazed into the pool of the abyss and saw his own reflection. 

His image caused the birth of the thrice-great Phanes-Eros-Zagreus, the saviors, who together are called Antinous Invictus.

The three-fold mystery of their birth is the descent of Phanes-Beauty, Eros-Love and Zagreus-Ecstasy into our world. 

These great spirits are the divine light of Antinous the God, it is their presence at the ground of our soul that is our immortal spark.

Within us all is the perfect image of the perfect face of light and love, a reflection of Narcissus-Bythus gazing down into the darkness of our world.

Antinous Invictus the perfect image of the perfect face of light and love will illuminate the way ahead.

It was Hadrian's dream to create the perfect civilization ... a civilization based on the Hellenistic principles of love, beauty, learning and tolerance. And it was his dream to create the perfect religion ... a religion which would encompass all others.

In the Northern Hemisphere today is the Winter Solstice and the days will be getting longer now. In the Southern Hemisphere it is the Summer Solstice and the days will become shorter now.

Wherever you live on this blue marble of ours, it is the same moment in the eye of Antinous the Gay God.

SATURN IN CAPRICORN: THE RICH GET RICHER THE POOR GET POORER

SATURN has left fiery Sagittarius and has entered its home sign of Capricorn, where it will spend nearly three years. 

Saturn occupies the sign of Capricorn from December 19, 2017, to March 21, 2020, before entering Aquarius. Then on July 1, 2020, Retrograde Saturn re-enters Capricorn, finally leaving the sign of the goat for good on December 17, 2020. 

Saturn takes about 28-29 years to come full circle, and thus spends on average close to two-and-a-half years in a sign. 

Every time Saturn enters Capricorn we all begin a new cycle and chapter altogether, both individually and collectively. 

Capricorn is a no frills sign and deals with power, business and structure. Saturn here is concerned with security and structure, tradition, organization, big business and defense. 

If left unchecked, big business can become the new Gods of the Universe as Saturn moves through this sign. Saturn in Capricorn can denote great wealth but also great limitations. 

Saturn was in Capricorn during the worst part of the Great Depression in the early 1930s. The rich got richer, and the poor got poorer. 

The last transit of Saturn in Capricorn was from February 15, 1988 until February 5, 1991. 

Before that it was January of 1959-January of 1962, and December 1929-November 1932. 

In Capricorn, Saturn builds things that are meant to inspire respect (or intimidation) as much as anything else. 

The Berlin wall for example, began construction under a Jupiter-Saturn conjunction (August 31, 1961). It was meant to be a political symbol to keep some people in their place.

We will experience another Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, considered to be an important new cycle, especially in mundane astrology in 2020 … when the big question will be whether people in the 21st Century are willing to be bound in by walls built by autocratic leaders.
