At mid-week, Mercury is at right angles to Mars. Some astrologers say this is when people sharpen their swords, but we prefer to say it is when people sharpen their tongues to use as weapons! Remember that lovely line from "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde (who is a Saint of Antinous, by the way): "On an occasion of this kind it becomes more than a moral duty to speak one's mind. It becomes a pleasure." This is an aspect which encourages people to say vicious and intentionally hurtful things. People are overly persnickety and bitchy and downright mean. You'll be amazed how true this is.

Batten down the hatches and brace for trouble this weekend ... when the threat of assassinations, political upheavals, armed conflicts and even earthquakes is acute. Mercury is in tense aspects to Saturn and Pluto even as the Sun is in 180-degree opposition to rebellious Uranus. These configurations bring unexpected and cataclysmic encounters or events which shake up the world ... including your own personal world. As if that were not enough, overnight Saturday/Sunday we come to the ARIES FULL MOON which amps up the tension levels 100 percent! Be careful: In Antinous Moon Magic we call this the LIGHTNING MOON for the bolt of lightning which nearly killed Hadrian and Antinous atop Mount Cassius in autumn of the year 129 AD. The LIGHTNING MOON is the most impetuous and accident-prone moon of the year.

The week starts off on a joyous note when Venus soars into jovial Sagittarius, leaving behind the murky moodiness of Scorpio for another year. This is the most explosive two weeks of the year when Mars aligns in conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn on Wednesday before squaring off against Uranus on October 29th — there might literally be explosions or at least volcanic eruptions when the warrior god teams up with the lord of the underworld and is at odds with unpredictable Uranus. Meanwhile, Mercury is in opposition to Uranus, igniting spontaneous verbal explosions. Pent-up anger bursts out into all-out armed conflict. This is a classic textbook recipe for terrorist attacks. It definitely spells trouble for the world's hot spots and the US presidential campaign. The threat of assassination looms large, as does the danger of terrorism. You need to be on guard for outbursts of rage. The important thing is to be aware where your rage is coming from. Don't vent your rage on innocent victims. Instead, be consciously aware of the source of your anger so that you can harness the powerful energies of Mars/Pluto/Uranus to carry out constructive projects you have been stalling on for way too long.

This weekend we come to the second Cancer Third Quarter Moon in succession ... which we call the Autumn Blue Moon of Hadrian in Antinous Moon Magic. The Autumn Blue Moon represents the Harvest Moon — a time to reap what you have sown in youth. It is an allegory for Hadrian: the maturity within your soul. Regardless of your chronological age, Hadrian is that part of you which draws on the wisdom and maturity that comes from experience and spiritual knowledge. Hadrian represents that part of you which transcends age, gender and other limitations to embrace a broad vision, tolerant attitude, freedom-loving philosophical air, and generally jovial spirits. Hadrian is your inner source of hope, optimism, confidence and generosity. Your inner Hadrian tends to appreciate abundance; the dictum "less is more" doesn't make much sense in his realm -- better to have plenty and let a little go to waste. Your inner Hadrian tells you that a strong sense of responsibility and justice flow from a belief in higher truth. Hadrian is lenient and merciful with the weak, intolerant of bullies and fools, and Hadrian is beneficent to those in need of his generosity. This week you will want to watch out for excesses in eating, drinking, spending money and falling in love when indulgent Venus forms a 90-degree square angle to dreamy Neptune and simultaneously an expansive sextile aspect with exaggeration-prone Jupiter. If you are a latent shopoholic, this is the one week of the year where you will max out on your addiction ... while maxing out on your credit card. This is a good day for smooth-talking gigolos who pay fanciful compliments to you ... and you find yourself actually believing them ... And why not? Is that such a bad thing? Why not enjoy the fantasy as long as it lasts ... and as long as you know it's a fantasy?
