ASTRO FORECAST: JANUARY 20th—30th, 2022

Antinous is a Moon God. He is, of course, many other things and he wears many hats. But one of the ways he was worshiped in Antiquity was as ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD.

His worshipers looked skyward and saw His beautiful face perpetually turned towards the Earth. The Man in the Moon was actually the Blessed Boy in the Moon for the ancient priests and worshipers of Antinous. Swiftest and most youthful of all the Zodiacal deities, Antinous speeds through an entire year's worth of Astrological signs in just 28 days.

ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD represents our deepest personal needs, our basic habits and reactions, and our unconscious gay selves. Where Hadrian the Sun acts, Antinous the Moon REACTS. How do we instinctively react or respond to problems? What do we feel we need for a sense of security? Look to ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD for answers.

ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD is both our inner boy child and our inner lover. His ever changing phases, as he sweeps past all the other Planets in all the Signs, make us at turns responsive, receptive, and reflective. Eternally youthful, ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD represents our childlike spontaneous and instinctual reactions.

ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD beams down on us to make us imaginative, creative, intuitive, sentimental, adaptable, introspective, and protective. On the negative side, and depending on where he is in the Zodiac, he can make us moody, restless, and irrational.

Antinous Astrology Forecast

JANUARY 20th-30th, 2022

THURS-FRIDAY, JANUARY 20th-21st, 2022

This week, Uranus, the planet of revolutionary change, stops dead in its tracks (as seen from Earth) and goes Direct (forwards) ... ending the Retrograde Uranus crisis of the last five months. Even when going forward, Uranus shakes things up. Uranus still shakes things up for us when it goes retrograde, but it starts to do so in a very pushy way. It pushes us to dig deep and really face the problems and the roadblocks that have impeded progress. It forces us to re-evaluate our values and our priorities. From now on, you can expect only the "usual chaos" in your life, and not the shocking chaos that has occurred since 19 August 2021, when Retrograde Uranus began.

SAT-SUNDAY, JANUARY 22nd-23rd, 2022

This weekend, your brain is ablaze with often confusing and conflicting ideas when Retrograde Mercury aligns with the Sun. Old astrology texts dating back to Ancient Rome call this a potentially hazardous time, and speak of a "Scorched Mercury" which impairs communications and judgement. But in ANTINOUS MOON MAGIC, we see that very differently. This Sun/Mercury conjunction is indeed intense, but in a positive way. Antinous/Mercury focuses the gay spiritual light of his heavenly father Ra-Herakhte right at you. Open your spiritual heart to the light and joy and permit it to burn away all doubt and all fear and trepidation. Most people live in spiritual darkness. They are like people who live in caves and are afraid of sunlight because it hurts their eyes. But should we shun the light and stay in the cave with them? Antinous/Mercury says it's safe to open your spiritual eyes — and spiritual heart — and become accustomed to the light.

MONDAY, JANUARY 24th, 2022

This week, you will be more determined than ever to take care of business from now through March 6th, as action-planet Mars is exalted in efficient Capricorn. If you've been putting off important duties, the guilt is unbearable now, and you'll experience renewed focus to get things done. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, which rules time. Now you will be more aware of how precious passing moments are, and thus more likely to make a structured schedule. When you schedule your days, time expands. When you just leave it up in the air, time dissolves. Therefore, schedule everything, even — and especially — leisure time so you'll have more of it during this phase. It's also easier to get your priorities straight under this influence, as Capricorn has a tendency to get the most out of what's useful.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 25th, 2022

This week, we come to the Scorpio Third Quarter Moon. This is the Lunar Phase in Antinous Moon Magic which we call the PERDITION MOON of coming to terms with loss and diminishment. Meditations and rituals carried out during this Lunar Phase are best suited for seeking to come to terms with loss and finding areas in your life where you may unconsciously be causing yourself loss or sadness. This Lunar Phase is NOT about giving in to loss and grief, but rather it is about moving through them to find new ways towards growth and fulfillment.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26th, 2022

On Wednesday, Retrograde Mercury slips "backwards" from Aquarius back into Capricorn. You get a second chance to find the solution to any difficult situation. From now through 15th February 2022 (when Mercury re-enters Aquarius) you may find it easier to set helpful limits as the New Year settles in.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 27th, 2022

This week, healing energies get a sudden and dramatic boost when the Sun forms a sextile aspect with CHIRON IN ARIES. This is a good time for health checkups and medical treatment ... also, you can expect a positive and expansive outlook, which can benefit your well-being at this time. You may be more open-minded with regard to experiencing new things, which will allow healing of your mind, body, and spirit. For instance, you could seek higher understanding and meaning in your life through a guide, mentor, or spiritual person or increase your inner knowledge by means of educational processes, religion, or meditative practices during this period. An urge to travel to far-away places (real or imaginary) may also be experienced. You may discover new perspectives on your beliefs, faith, and sense of hope. Restoring peace and harmony in your personal life and relationships is possible now through your interest in healing your own wounds, as well as extending compassion and generosity to others.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 28th, 2022

This week, "mental" Retrograde Mercury aligns in conjunction with "investigative" Pluto and PLUTO ALIGNS WITH THE STAR OF ANTINOUS, allowing us a second chance to deftly channel our "inner detective" to get to the bottom of things, if we so desire ... although, we may also want to practice some measure of discretion with respect to how, when, and with whom we ultimately decide to share any of our findings.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 29th, 2022

This weekend, Retrograde Venus turns around and goes Direct (forwards as seen from Earth) for the first time in six weeks. Have you been confused about gender roles and former friends over the past six weeks? Blame retrograde Venus! Old friends suddenly resurfaced, old questions about your identity recurred. But now, retrograde Venus turns direct and is going forward again. Friendships, financial questions and identity confusion will become clearer and more transparent now.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 30th, 2022

This weekend, the Sun and Uranus are in a 90-degree square aspect to each other. This aspect creates unreliability and betrayal amongst friends, allies and coworkers. Stress and rancour and lots of rage and unrest are the result.

SNEAK PREVIEW OF NEXT WEEK:

Another exciting week lies ahead between January 31st and February 6th, 2022, when we come to the AQUARIUS NEW MOON — which in Antinous Moon Magic we call the OBELISK MOON — the lunar phase embodying knowledge in all its forms, knowledge which is gained through study and learning. The Aquarius New Moon is also always CHINESE NEW YEAR and 2022 is the Year of the Tiger ... More details next time ....

SAINT SEBASTIAN

ON January 20th the Religion of Antinous honors SAINT SEBASTIAN who, despite being a Christian martyr, has been identified by homosexuals of all beliefs over the centuries as a symbol of our persecution and suffering.

Sebastian was an officer in the Imperial Guard of Emperor Diocletian, and he was a Christian.

In 302 A.D. Diocletian subjected the Christians to a brutal persecution, and it was during this period that Sebastian was "outed" to the Emperor as a practicing Christian.

When asked to sacrifice before a pagan altar, Sebastian refused and  was sentenced to death. He was tied to a column before Mauritanian archers, who shot him with arrows...but to no effect.

Sebastian was strengthened by his faith, and did not die. He was finally clubbed to death in front of Emperor.

Homosexuals over the centuries have looked to Sebastian as a patron saint. His manner of death, which is like an affliction of Eros, and the sight of the beautiful young soldier plumed with arrows, has moved our hearts over the ages more than all other Christian saints.

In the Middle Ages, he was said to have power over the plague. And during the Black Death, his popularity grew among the penitent flagellants.

His image was a favorite subject of homosexual artists during the Renaissance who were fascinated by the erotic charge of his death.

During the early 19th Century he was taken up as the model for homosexual suffering and persecution, some writers even claiming that he was the young lover of Diocletian and that his martyrdom had a jealous, sexual subtext.

In our time, the power of St. Sebastian over the Plague has made him a spiritual force in the fight against AIDS. And so we recognize his sanctity as the patron saint of homosexuals and as a protector from our modern plague.

We consecrate him to the Religion of Antinous and offer our own quivering-hearts as a target for his thousand arrows of love.

THE GOING FORTH OF ANUBIS

ON January 20th is the Ancient Egyptian Feast of "The Going Forth of Anubis" (Yinepu) when his statues are carried through the streets for worshipers to honor ... in hopes that Anubis will convey them through the darkness of death to eternal light and life.

This feast occurs between the completion of the mummification of Antinous on January 11th and the birthday of Hadrian on January 24th.

Anubis leads the new god Antinous to the Home of the Gods amongst the Imperishable Stars.

FEATURED ANTINOUS STATUE OF THE DAY
THE ANTINOUS OF ELEUSIS

THIS statue of Antinous from Eleusis - Ἐλευσίς - is the only one that seems to refer back to an incident in his life, his initiation into the Eleusinian Mysteries of death and resurrection in September 128 AD.

The sculpture was erected after his death in the outer courtyard of Eleusis and captures this instant of his life, though officially it depicts him as the god Dionysos Zagreus, a divinity of suffering abd resurrection associated with the Eleusinian Mysteries.

Technically it is not one of the best of the depictions of Antinous, but it evokes a mood and a moment.

The sulptor clearly envisaged the young lad draped in his himation, standing in the darkened Telesterion (the initiation hall) and confronted with the Eleusinian Mysteries of death and resurrection.

He clutches at the folds of his himation anxiously, insecure, staring wide-eyed, his mouth pursed in awe, with an expression of apprehension, intent rapture and awareness of the tremendous significance of what was being revealed to him.

Even though it is a mediocre statue in workmanship and details it is redeemed by its expressiveness and pathos.

This statue is now housed in the Archaeological Museum of Eleusis: Antinous as Dionysus Zagreus, Inv. 5092, 1.83 m, in marble of Thasos.

THE ANTINOUS LUNUS MOON
THE CANCER FULL MOON

TONIGHT's Cancer Full Moon is the lunar phase we call the LUNUS MOON in Antinous Moon Magic — the Moon of Moons!

This is a Full Moon which brings out powerful emotions. Because this Full Moon always occurs during December/January, it is emotional farewell to the old year and heart-felt welcoming of the new year.

You will shed sentimental tears for loved ones you have lost during the past year, not to mention a job or other things you may have lost.

Each lunar phase represents a Divine Spirit or Archetype. The Spirit of Lunus is Antinous the Moon God. It is your His lunar divine self.

Antinous the Gay God was worshiped in ancient times as a lunar deity. The "Man in the Moon" was actually the "Blessed Boy in the Moon" to the ancient worshipers of Antinous.

The Spirit of the Lunus Moon is the spirit of emotions, unconscious habits, rhythms, memories and moods. It is also your dreams and nostalgia. Lunus is the personification of the unconscious mind and it is all dreams and visions.

The OBELISK OF ANTINOUS states that he hears the prayers of his worshipers and sends them healing visions as they slumber. Lunus is the personification of intuition and mediumistic abilities.

Lunus is clairvoyance itself. Lunus is also the bringer of nightmares, fears, traumas and irrational emotional imbalance.

Just as the Moon moves the tides, Lunus brings emotional fluctuations. Lunus is inconstancy, inconsistency and flux. As the phases of the moon change, so Lunus is all things which flow and fluctuate. It is all things which come and go like the tides.

Tonight's Lunus Moon is a propitious time for meditations and rituals delving into your emotional state of being, and also for intuitive or clairvoyant trances.

MAGICAL CRYSTALS FOR THE LUNUS MOON
By Our Crystal Meditation Advisor Martin Campbell

TONIGHT's Cancer Full Moon is the Lunus Moon in Antinous Moon Magic.

This intense lunar phase may find you focused on emotions and visualising them in meditations or trances.

I would suggest using the following crystals to focus particular energies and emotions for you:

Jade (esp. green) - This stone (above) channels passion into constructive approaches to situations with the people around you whether family, friends, colleagues or enemies. It is not surprising, therefore, that Chinese people have held Green Jade as sacred for over a millennia.

Carnelian - (Above right) Once you are moving into, or have found, your place of positivity then I suggest that you the crystal which is my personal favourite – Carnelian. Red or orange Carnelian helps you to become full of life force and vitality. It helps you to focus on positive outcomes, joy and fun approaches to life.

Fire Opal - Many of us mourn the loss of another year or focus on other losses we may have experienced in that, or previous, years.

I carried a Fire Opal with me for over a year during  a very troubling time in my life a couple of years ago.

I held it during meditations too. It helped my immensely – I felt my moments of grief released more readily yet the outcomes of each cry or moment of depression were somehow channeled into more positive thinking.

Whatever you are doing at this time "between the years" please accept my warmest wishes for your happiness and fulfillment. Blessed be to you all. Ave Antinous!

Light and Life,
MARTIN

A PRAYER FOR ANTINOUS
By Our Priest Adriaan van den Berg

Worshipers often ask us how to pray to Antinous. While there is no mandatory official prayer, I suggest this prayer as an example:

Oh, Antinous, hear these words that speak our hearts & our minds -
Young Master of the hunt, help us to live bravely too, guide us to avoid the pitfalls and traps on this path of this life.

Slayer of beasts, help us vanquish the lion of all that vexes us and to avoid all that is grievous, painful and that will bring us harm as a hunter evades the abominable tusks of the boar.

Young Lover of Hadrian, you who knew love, guide us towards it, will you fill the unloved & loveless' hearts?

Faithful Companion, stay with us as we endure our plight, be with the broken, the outcast, those who struggle, with the lonely and with the forlorn.

Healer, tend to our sick, offer them reprieve from their suffering, place your hand upon their brows - you have healed for millennia, remain with us doing so & curb this blight amongst us now.

Our Master & Teacher, bless & assist your scattered followers, your Priests, scholars, scribes, artists & apprentices, our families & friends.

Liberator, guide & inspire those who worship & aspire to know thee - amidst darkness, help us to bring light, in the face of evil, marshall us to fight.

Antinoo-Osiris, you who stride different worlds, tend to our departed, afford them peace, vanquish our fears of the final transition, and when it is upon us, welcome us in your arms beyond.

Agatho Daemon to all of an afflicted, divided & conflicted humanity, us with our perilous, uncertain & muddled future... Grant us vision to see a new future, allow us possibilities.

Tireless Helper, we are grateful for all done in our interest & at our behest, for being able to pass our burdens to thee.

Let the star of Antinous continue to shine as our beacon of hope, may our recourse in thee be our certainty.

Ave Antinous!
ADRIAAN VAN DEN BERG
