FREDDIE Mercury's personal replica of the famous Lansdowne Antinous/Dionysus bust sold at Sotheby's in London today for $41,250 (33,020 British pounds), far in excess of the original pre-sale estimate of $1,500 (1,200 pounds)!
The exquisite bronze bust was made in Paris 100 years ago and measures 60 cm (2 feet) in height. It is a replica of the Lansdowne bust at The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, England.
The auction, entitled: "Freddie Mercury: A World Of His Own / At Home," featured a catalogue of art and furnishings from the star's estate.
