Antinous Astrology Forecast

JANUARY 14 to 31, 2016

On Thursday your brain is ablaze with often confusing and conflicting ideas when Retrograde Mercury aligns with the Sun. Old astrology texts dating back to Ancient Rome call this a potentially hazardous time, and speak of a "Scorched Mercury" which impairs communications and judgment. But in ANTINOUS MOON MAGIC, we see that very differently. This Sun/Mercury conjunction is indeed intense, but in a positive way. Antinous/Mercury focuses the gay spiritual light of his heavenly father Ra-Herakhte right at you. Open your spiritual heart to the light and joy and permit it to burn away all doubt and all fear and trepidation. Most people live in spiritual darkness. They are like people who live in caves and are afraid of sunlight because it hurts their eyes. But should we shun the light and stay in the cave with them? Antinous/Mercury says it's safe to open your spiritual eyes — and spiritual heart — and become accustomed to the light.

On Friday Retrograde Mercury slips backwards into a fortuitous trine aspect with lucky Jupiter — the same Mercury trine Jupiter aspect which we enjoyed on Christmas Day 2015. Even if you usually never play the lottery, you might want to consider buying a lotto ticket for this weekend. And because Mercury is Retrograde, you might find an old ticket that hasn't been cashed in. Or it is also possible that you discover a gift certificate from Christmas or else some other treasure which you had forgotten about.

Overnight Saturday/Sunday we come to the Aries First Quarter Moon, which is the Lunar Phase we call the INVICTUS MOON ,,, the Antinous Moon Magic spirit of Mithras ... because this lunar phase always occurs in December or January near the Solstice Birthday of Mithras ... Invictus is the bold light that shines forth from a gay man's eyes to illuminate those around him. It is the warmth of your every being ... It is the optimism which brightens a dismal day when things are going wrong. Invictus is indomitable, unbeatable, unconquerable ... It is a determined spirit which never admits defeat, never gives up, never quits ... Invictus is a beacon which dispels darkness and casts out shadows ... In Antinous Moon Magic, tonight is an ideal time for meditation and rituals aimed at illuminating opaque situations or questions ... It is well-suited for planning assertive, goal-oriented action aimed at whole-heartedly positive results.

On Monday and Tuesday indulgent Venus squares off against excessive Jupiter. If you are planning to go to an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast ... then you will pig out because it's easy to fall victim to temptation during this configuration. We need to be wary of overdoing it with rich food, intoxicating drinks and other "vices." It will be difficult switching gears and getting back to work. There's even a possibility we'll forget responsibilities altogether. This isn't a good time to make luxury purchases. A sports car could require costly repair, a gourmet meal may be less than satisfying or an expensive outfit may be made with inferior materials. Wait another day to splurge. Getting good value for money will be very difficult under this configuration.

The latter half of this week is dominated by very difficult configurations involving Mercury, Pluto and Uranus. That is because Pluto and Uranus are at right angles to each other … a crisis-laden configuration which has been responsible for economic and political turmoil for many months now, but which will soon be dissipating as those two outer planets move out of this square aspect. Mercury is in conjunction with Pluto this week, which means Mercury is also at right angles with Uranus.

Mercury square Uranus is a recipe for explosive outbursts which come out of no where. And because Mercury is Retrograde right now, it means you may get an unpleasant surprise from the past … perhaps a letter or summons or bill which you had thought was far behind you. Or else, you get a visit from someone you had hoped you would never see again.

The conjunction of Mercury and Pluto in serious-minded Capricorn is also problematic. The slightest lapse of judgement, the most minor mistake or a mere infringement of a rule can result in severe reprimand or punishment.

On Saturday Venus (love, sexual attraction, wealth) enters Capricorn (business, practicality, hard reality) and stays there until February 3, 2016. The goddess of love will have us reviewing and renewing many of our relationship commitments and obligations in very tangible and concrete ways. Venus in Capricorn knows the laws of sexuality in any given culture, and is skilled at bending those laws to their benefit. Capricorn wants to be the boss of itself (and possibly you) and generally goes it alone, which is an interesting modus operandi for the planet that tells us about how we do partnership. This trip through the sign of the Goat can teach us about boundaries within our unions. There's nothing sexier than someone who isn't desperate for our affections while still remaining open, transparent and available for intimacy and spontaneity. Venus in Capricorn can become a bit of a cautious ice queen if it starts to take itself, its work and its ambitions too seriously. Career can become the ultimate turn on, and social status the greatest romance when Capricorn gets out of balance. Venus in Capricorn can teach us how to be one of the most loyal and dedicated partners around.

Overnight Saturday/Sunday we come to the lunar phase we call the LION HUNT MOON, the LEO FULL MOON. It is a reminder that Antinous slew a man-eating lion in Egypt. Antinous peered out into the barren wilderness with all its deep and hidden dangers. He charged forth, his bridle-reins in one hand and an adamantine-tipped spear in the other, and he faced the beast unafraid. For Antinous knew he would triumph over death. The Spirit of the Lion Hunt is the bravery of Antinous the Lion Slayer.

Aren't you tired of all the computer glitches, "lost" files, travel delays and snafus of recent weeks? Take heart! On Monday Mercury does an about-face and starts going forward again as seen from Earth, ending three weeks of Retrograde "backwards" travel. So you can safely twitter friends and co-workers a prediction that certain "lost" computer files or parcels will show up by the time they go to work Monday morning. Mercury going backwards creates this sort of impish mayhem with matters concerning communications, documents and money. Misplaced tickets, keys, "lost" computer files, letters and packages which vanish into postal limbo ... all are typical of Retrograde Mercury. The "lost" things turn up again as if by magic when Mercury goes Direct again. A skilled astrologer, Hadrian no doubt amazed his courtiers by accurately predicting when some "lost" document or wayward courier message would finally re-appear out of no where.

If you have read Douglas Adams's "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," you may remember that the entire entry for the planet Earth was two worlds: "mostly harmless." Those two words sum up this week when there are no major astrological configurations. Enjoy the relative peace and quiet … you will need your strength later in the year 2016.

Overnight Friday/Saturday Mercury aligns in conjunction with Pluto … for the second time in a week. Last week Mercury was Retrograde, conjuring up unsorted messes from the past. This week Mercury is going forward again, but the alignment with Pluto in stubborn Capricorn is nonetheless annoying. You find yourself being asked nosey and unpleasant questions and and also find you are being challenged about everything you do. Don't worry! Mercury moves fast and will be out of this configuration by Monday at the latest.

Overnight Sunday/Monday we come to the the Scorpio Third Quarter Moon. This is the Lunar Phase in Antinous Moon Magic which we call the PERDITION MOON of coming to terms with loss and diminishment. Meditations and rituals carried out during this Lunar Phase are best suited for seeking to come to terms with loss and finding areas in your life where you may unconsciously be causing yourself loss or sadness. This Lunar Phase is NOT about giving in to loss and grief, but rather it is about moving through them to find new ways towards growth and fulfillment.

Another exciting week lies ahead between February 1 and 7 when we come to one of the most joyous New Moons — the AQUARIUS NEW MOON — which in Antinous Moon Magic we call the OBELISK MOON — the lunar phase embodying knowledge in all its forms, knowledge which is gained through study and learning. The Aquarius New Moon is also always CHINESE NEW YEAR and this is the Year of the Red Fire Monkey. Besides being a fiery presidential election year in the USA, this could also be a year of devastating fires, volcanic eruptions and withering heat ... El NiƱo alarm in store .... More details next time ....
