Antinous Astrology Forecast

JANUARY 1 to 17, 2016

NEW YEAR'S EVE 2015-2016

On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day hope and confidence fill the atmosphere when we come to the LIBRA THIRD QUARTER MOON, which we call the CROSSROADS MOON. It is a time for setting a new course, possibly changing course, setting out in a new direction. It is about making a decision. The key is not to worry about which choice to make. The key is to make a choice and go ahead with it.

On Saturday it's time to take advantage of those January Clearance Sales and buy a new smartphone, tablet or other communications device when Mercury enters the tech-friendly and communications-conscious sign of Aquarius. This is the best time of year for communications technology upgrades. But hurry, because Mercury only stays in Aquarius for seven days before it goes "Retrograde" (backwards as seen from Earth) and slips back into Capricorn and remains there until Valentine's Day when it re-enters Aquarius.

Overnight Sunday/Monday THE YEAR OF MARS 2016 lives up to its name when Mars leaves Libra, where it has been very uncomfortable since November 13th, and dives into the steamy waters of Scorpio, where it feels truly at home. All of the warrior god's natural characteristics, good and bad, are much stronger here. Mars's aggressive energies are more intense, more passionate, more loyal, more stubborn, crueler, more secretive, more manipulative, more jealous and (surprise!) more sensitive here than in any other sign. It will be an intense couple of months until Mars enters Sagittarius March 6, 2016.

On Tuesday Mercury does an about-face and goes "backwards" as seen from Earth until June 12th. This RETROGRADE MERCURY phase is a time of confusion in communications and commerce. About three times each year, Mercury the communications wizard turns into Mercury the fast-talking con man. This is the RETROGRADE MERCURY phase, and it lasts about three weeks. This Retrograde Mercury hasa slightly different twist to it because it spans two signs. On Tuesday when it turns backwards, Mercury is looking forward in Aquarius, but on Friday,January 8, it backs into Capricorn for the remainder of the retrograde cycle until January 25. So RETROGRADE MERCURY will be serving up glitches and snafus in the Aquarius-related areas of communications, computers, transport, travel and social media and it will also be forcing you to review, reassess and reconsider your values in the Capricorn-related practical areas of career and finances for the new year. If you are buying a new mobile phone, be sure to read the fine print about hidden costs. Planning to move into a new apartment? Check the kitchen and bathroom for tell-tale signs of mold before signing the lease. Remember over the next three weeks that MERCURY wants you to play his sly game to win — not to be a whining victim. Make him proud of the way you play his game!

Wednesday is likely to be intensely distressing on many levels when the Sun aligns with Pluto in Capricorn just hours before the Sun also forms an intense aspect to Uranus. The Sun shines a light on dirty dealings and black secrets which have been concealed all last year, or even longer. The new year is coming in with a bang.

On Thursday we come to one of the two most tense days of the year ... when the Sun forms a 90-degree square angle to Uranus. This happens twice a year. It is a cosmic signal for you to break free from restrictions which have prevented you from moving forward. The good news is that strange and wacky and unexpected things can happen. The bad news is that ... well ... strange and wacky and unexpected things can happen. But, as the Divine Hadrian knew, astrology is a tool for anticipating upcoming influences. Instead of worrying about a "bad surprise", you should ask your Unconscious mind (or your Magical Self if you are a Gay Wizard) to ensure that the upcoming "surprise" is of a pleasant nature rather than an unpleasant nature. That is, after all, the purpose of astrology.

On Friday Jupiter does a turnaround and goes Retrograde (backwards as seen from Earth) until May 9, 2016, ushering in four months of introspection and review. You may feel you are spinning your wheels much of the time. And because Retrograde Jupiter is in workaday Virgo for the entire time, you must rely more upon hard work than upon luck, despite the fact that Jupiter is the luckiest planet in the Zodiac. When Jupiter turns retrograde, the action of Jupiter is reversed so that the emphasis is upon inner awareness and inner growth. When opportunities arise while Jupiter is retrograde, they are the result of seeds planted in the past from people met or connections made in the past.

On Saturday Venus aligns with Saturn in Sagittarius, meaning you will meet someone from your past, or perhaps an older person, who will be a wellspring of bright new ideas and inspiration for you in the coming weeks.

Overnight Saturday/Sunday we come to the Capricorn New Moon, which we call the LAMIA MOON of dark magic. Meditation and rituals conducted tonight are best suited for rooting out malaise and sickness and for diminishing evil sendings. Look for areas in your life where you may be detrimental to yourself, may be working against yourself or may be making yourself sick, perhaps literally so.

After a dour first week of 2016, the second week is much brighter and you might want to purchase a lottery ticket when the Sun forms a trine aspect with lucky Jupiter even as Venus forms a trine with winner-take-all Uranus. Not only are these fortuitous configurations good for making money, but they also greatly enhance chances of love and romance. So, go ahead — take a chance on love.

On Thursday your brain is ablaze with often confusing and conflicting ideas when Retrograde Mercury aligns with the Sun. Old astrology texts dating back to Ancient Rome call this a potentially hazardous time, and speak of a "Scorched Mercury" which impairs communications and judgment. But in ANTINOUS MOON MAGIC, we see that very differently. This Sun/Mercury conjunction is indeed intense, but in a positive way. Antinous/Mercury focuses the gay spiritual light of his heavenly father Ra-Herakhte right at you. Open your spiritual heart to the light and joy and permit it to burn away all doubt and all fear and trepidation. Most people live in spiritual darkness. They are like people who live in caves and are afraid of sunlight because it hurts their eyes. But should we shun the light and stay in the cave with them? Antinous/Mercury says it's safe to open your spiritual eyes — and spiritual heart — and become accustomed to the light.

On Friday Retrograde Mercury slips backwards into a fortuitous trine aspect with lucky Jupiter — the same Mercury trine Jupiter aspect which we enjoyed on Christmas Day 2015. Even if you usually never play the lottery, you might want to consider buying a lotto ticket for this weekend. And because Mercury is Retrograde, you might find an old ticket that hasn't been cashed in. Or it is also possible that you discover a gift certificate from Christmas or else some other treasure which you had forgotten about.

Overnight Saturday/Sunday we come to the Aries First Quarter Moon, which is the Lunar Phase we call the INVICTUS MOON ,,, the Antinous Moon Magic spirit of Mithras ... because this lunar phase always occurs in December or January near the Solstice Birthday of Mithras ... Invictus is the bold light that shines forth from a gay man's eyes to illuminate those around him. It is the warmth of your every being ... It is the optimism which brightens a dismal day when things are going wrong. Invictus is indomitable, unbeatable, unconquerable ... It is a determined spirit which never admits defeat, never gives up, never quits ... Invictus is a beacon which dispels darkness and casts out shadows ... In Antinous Moon Magic, tonight is an ideal time for meditation and rituals aimed at illuminating opaque situations or questions ... It is well-suited for planning assertive, goal-oriented action aimed at whole-heartedly positive results.

Another exciting week lies ahead between January 18 and 24 when when when we come to the lunar phase we call the LION HUNT MOON, the LEO FULL MOON. It is a reminder that Antinous slew a man-eating lion in Egypt. Antinous peered out into the barren wilderness with all its deep and hidden dangers. He charged forth, his bridle-reins in one hand and an adamantine-tipped spear in the other, and he faced the beast unafraid. For Antinous knew he would triumph over death. The Spirit of the Lion Hunt is the bravery of Antinous the Lion Slayer .... More details next time ....
